Definition

Sesame oil is the oil of the sesame seed. This oil is often used in Asian cuisine and Ayurvedic medicine. See: Sesame.

Health considerations

Sesame seed oil is typically primarily oleic and linoleic acid, with smaller amounts of fatty acids such as palmitic and stearic acid. In diabetic rats, sesame oil intake improved multiple markers, including blood glucose levels. See: Sesame, Oleic acid, Linoleic acid.
