Definition

Hazelnut oil is extracted from hazelnuts. It may be sold toasted or untoasted, and refined or unrefined. See: Hazelnuts.

Health considerations

Hazelnut oil is a source of vitamin E. Its fatty acid profile is on average: 80% oleic acid, 10% linoleic acid, 5% palmitic acid, 3% stearic acid with small quantities of other fatty acids. It is rich in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids. See: Oleic acid.

Keep in mind

Hazelnut oil may contain tace amounts of allergenic hazelnut proteins.
