Definition

Salt substitutes are granulated table salt alternatives which contain no or significantly reduced quantities of sodium. The chloride component may still be present, such as in potassium chloride substitutes. Salt substitutes may contain additional ingredients such as hydrolyzed protein, herbs, spices, and dried seaweed.
