Definition

Refined, bleached, and deodorized palm oil (RBD palm oil) is a heavily processed form of palm oil. It is distinct from red palm oil and palm kernel oil, and is used in many processed foods as an alternative to hydrogenated vegetable oil. See: Palm oil.

Health considerations

RBD palm oil acts differently in the body than red and unrefined palm oils. RBD palm oil negatively impacts cardiovascular health, and induces toxicity to multiple organs as well as to reproductive health.
