Butterhead lettuce is a head lettuce whose large, rounded leaves grow to form a loose, blossoming, short head. The green leaves have a soft, thin, buttery texture.

Butterhead lettuce is a source of vitamins A, C, K, and folate, and small amounts of calcium, iron, and potassium. Like all lettuces it is low in calories. Butterhead lettuce is high in antioxidants.
