Definition

Green banana flour is a type of flour made from dried and ground whole green bananas. A popular gluten-free flour alternative, this flour does not taste like bananas when baked.

Health considerations

Green banana flour is very high in resistant starch, meaning that the starches within the flour act more like fiber and are very poorly digested. In a study conducted on overweight adult women researchers found that women consuming 20g of green banana flour a day had a smaller hip circumference, lower systolic blood pressure, and lower fasting glucose levels.
