Carnauba wax is a refined, bleached wax derived from the leaves of Copernicia prunifera palm trees. It is used primarily as a glazing agent and coating.

Health considerations

Carnauba wax is consumed in minimal amounts and is not associated with any negative health effects.

Keep in mind

A 2012 review by the European Food Safety Authority concluded that at current expected intake levels carnauba wax does not pose any health risk.
