Nectarines are the round fruit of Prunus persica trees. While the same species as peaches, nectarines have no fuzz on the skin. The peel varies from white to dark orange-red, the flesh from white to deep yellow-orange, and nectarines may be clingstone or freestone, describing how the flesh clings to the inner pit.

Nectarines are a source of vitamins E, C, A, and some B vitamins, as well as potassium and copper.
