Marrowfat peas are dried, mature, green peas, the large seed of Pisum sativum var. medullare plants. They are used to make mushy peas, a popular British food, and fried snack foods. Marrowfat peas are also available pre-cooked and canned.
In rats fed a diet supplemented with marrowfat peas for two months, beneficial effects on cholesterol levels and ratios were seen.
