Definition

Black currants are small, tart dark violet-black berries produced by the Ribes nigrum plant.  

Health considerations

Black currants are a good source of iron and potassium, and a very good source of vitamin C and manganese. Black currants are high in antioxidants, mostly due to their high anthocyanin content.
