Definition

Turmeric is a spice made from the Curcuma longa plant. With a deep yellow-orange colour this spice is partially responsible for the deep orange and yellow colour found in most curries and indian dishes.

Health considerations

Turmeric may help improve symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Curcumin, the primary medicinal component of turmeric, has been extensively studied for its various health benefits. See: Curcumin.
